Batesville girls golf won a dual meet over Columbus East 163-194 at Greenbelt Golf Course. The Bulldogs’ Alexis Gallagher took medalist honors with a one-over-par-37.

Batesville girls soccer netted a pair of shutout wins at Columbus East. It was the Bulldog varsity team over the Olympians 9-nil. Elia Wade recorded a hat trick. Brynlie Oesterling and Macey Benjamin split time in goal for BHS and combined on the shutout…Batesville claimed the JV contest 3-nil. That match was shortened to one half.

In middle school cross country, Batesville ran in the 12-team Jennings County Invitational. The Bulldog girls were second with 64 points. The BMS boys came in third with 83. In the JV race, the Batesville boys were eighth while the girls finished 13th.

Batesville swept Milan in middle school volleyball. It was the Bulldogs over the Indians in the 7th grade match, 25-4, 25-20. BMS claimed the 8th grade contest, 25-6, 25-15.

It’s Week 4 of the high school football season, and we have a pair of games tonight on the Sports Voice. Franklin County visits East Central. The Cincinnati Reds open a three-game series in Milwaukee tonight against the Brewers. Lefthander Andrew Abbott (6-10, 4.43 ERA) starts for the Reds. The Brewers counter with righthander Dustin May (6-9, 4.69 ERA). First pitch is at 7:45.

The San Francisco 49ers trounced the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 in NFL action last night in Melbourne, Australia. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes.
