The Indiana Pacers snapped their five-game losing streak with a 107-103 road win over the Memphis Grizzlies in NBA action heard last night on the Sports Voice. Andrew Nembhard led the way for Indiana with 22 points. Former Purdue star Zach Edey recorded a double double for the Grizzlies: 11 points and 10 rebounds. With the win, the Pacers improve to 3-6 while the Grizzlies fall to 6-2. The Pacers are back it South of the Border on Saturday when they take on Denver in Mexico City.

The Cincinnati Reds have hired Joe Torres as the club’s pitching coach. The 44-year-old Torres joins the Reds after serving as Cleveland’s assistant pitching coach for the last five years. He worked there under current Cincinnati manager Terry Francona in 2022 and ’23. Torres replaces Derek Johnson, who took a leave of absence in June before the Reds announced he would not return next year.
The Reds and the Cincinnati chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America have announced their 2026 Major League Award winners. Elly De La Cruz was named the winner of the Ernie Lombardi Award as the team’s Most Valuable Player; Chase Burns was voted the unanimous winner of the Johnny Vander Meer Award as the club’s Most Outstanding Pitcher; and Emilio Pagán was voted the winner of the Joe Nuxhall Good Guy Award for the second consecutive year.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is he AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Higgins caught 10 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals 43-39 overtime win at home last Sunday against Tennessee. It’s the second straight week a Bengals player has won the award; quarterback Joe Burrow claimed it last week.
Purdue has decided to pause its football rivalry series with Notre Dame in 2027. The Boilermakers are replacing the Fighting Irish on next season’s schedule with West Virginia. The Boilers last faced the Mountaineers in 1996. Purdue’s 2027 non-conference lineup also includes UAlbany and Miami University. Notre Dame will instead play Illinois in Week 2 next year. It will be the two teams’ first meeting since 1968. The Irish are 11-0-1 all-time against the Fighting Illini.
