Sports Daily Digest November 12, 2024

St. Louis and Mt. Carmel split in 5th and 6th grade boys basketball last night. The Cardinals took the 5th grade game 30-19 to improve to 3-0 on the year. Mt. Carmel won the 6th grade contest 20-14.

Batesville High School senior cross country and track athlete Kaylynn Bedel will attend IU Indianapolis to continue her academic and athletic career. Bedel participated as an individual runner at the recent IHSAA state cross country meet.

Seven North Decatur Chargers were named to the 2024 all-Mid-Eastern Conference football team. They are Xander Jones, Mason Morris, Charlie Parmer, Cooper Parmer, Kayden Scudder, Cohen Thackery and Corbin Thackery. Coach Steve Stirn’s Chargers finished 10-2 overall and second in the MEC with a 2-1 league record behind conference champion and 3-0 Eastern Hancock.

South Ripley visits Milan in girls high school basketball tonight. Coverage begins around 7:15 on 103.9 FM, wrbiradio.com and the WRBI app. Elsewhere around the area tonight, Franklin County is at East Central, Jac-Cen-Del visits Shawe Memorial, and North Decatur takes the short drive to Greensburg.

Kansas remains #1 in this week’s AP college basketball poll, followed by Alabama and UConn to round out the top three. Purdue is ranked 13th; Indiana is at #17 with UC right behind in the 18th spot, and Kentucky is ranked 19th.

On Monday Night Football, the Miami Dolphins upset the Los Angeles Rams 23-15.
