The Raver Relays are set for Saturday, April 12 at 10 am at the Batesville High School Track. The event is held each year in memory of longtime track and field coach and former WRBI sportscaster Ron Raver. Proceeds will benefit the Ron Raver Scholarship Fund and the Batesville High School track and field program.
The Reds fell to the Texas Rangers 4-3 in Cactus League action yesterday in Surprise, Arizona. Cincinnati goes up against the Athletics this afternoon in Goodyear. First pitch has been moved up one hour to 3:05 because inclement weather is expected in the area. Meanwhile, the Reds have returned infielder/outfielder Cooper Bowman to the A’s. He was picked up by the Reds in the Rule 5 Draft in December.
The Big Ten men’s basketball tournament continues at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis with a full day of games. The Indiana Hoosiers take on Oregon this afternoon. Tipoff is at 12 p.m. The Purdue Boilermakers face USC tonight. That one is scheduled to tip off at 9:00.
In NFL free agency news, the Bengals are reportedly re-signing defensive lineman Cam Sample to a one-year deal. Meanwhile, the Colts have reportedly signed running back Khalil Herbert. He was picked up last year by the Bengals in a midseason trade with Chicago. Indianapolis is also bringing back wide receiver Ashton Dulin and offensive linemen Danny Pinter and Wesley French.
