Tyler Burcham has stepped down as Batesville High School head varsity baseball coach. He cited the need and desire to spend more time with his family. Burcham led the Bulldogs program for nine years. The team concluded a 17-11 season last Saturday with a berth in the Class 3A regional. The search is on for Burcham’s successor.
The Cincinnati Reds snapped their five-game losing streak with a 5-3 win in 11 innings over the San Diego Padres in a game that ended early this morning on WRBI. Sal Stewart’s go ahead two-run homer to centerfield in the top of the 11th was the game-winner. Tejay Antone got the win in relief to go to 1-0. Zach Maxwell pitched a scoreless three-up, three-down 11th inning to notch his first major league save. Chase Burns started and went 5 1/3 innings, allowed 6 hits and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts on career-high 105 pitches. The Reds go for the series win in the rubber game this afternoon. Brady Singer (2-6, 5.89 earned run average) starts for the Reds against Padres righty Michael King (4-5, 3.41 ERA). The Cincinnati Bengals have restructured quarterback Joe Burrows’ contract, according to multiple reports. The move was made to create salary cap space. Meanwhile, the Bengals have signed their second round draft pick, defensive end Cashius Howell from Texas A & M. The team has signed all seven of its selections in the 2026 NFL Draft.
