The Reds hit four home runs in the 4th inning to highlight an 11-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in downtown Cincinnati in a game heard last night on WRBI. Cincinnati is the first team in the majors to go deep four times in one inning this season. Noelvi Marte led off the 4th win a solo homer. With two outs Elly De La Cruz, Sal Stewart and JJ Bleday went back-to-back-to-back to cap off the five-run 4th. Stewart had two home runs on the night. He tied the game with a two-run blast in the 3rd inning. Marte added a three-run double in the 6th. Chase Burns got the win to improve to 11-1. He went five innings and gave up three hits, three earned runs and walked six while striking out two. The Reds go for the series win in the rubber match tonight. Brady Singer (3-8, 5.03 ERA) makes the start for Cincinnati. The Phillies counter with lefthander Jesus Luzardo (7-4, 3.75 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:40 on 103.9 FM.
Outfielder Will Benson has cleared waivers and accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Louisville. The Reds designated Benson for assignment last week when Hunter Greene came off the Injured List.
The Los Angeles Sparks beat the Indiana Fever 106-92 last night on the West Coast. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 29 points. Caitlin Clark returned after missing two games with a back injury. She started and scored nine points in limited playing time. Indiana’s West Coast road trip continues tomorrow night in Phoenix when the Fever battles the Mercury.
The Indiana Pacers made it official and announced the signing of free agent guard Kelly Oubre, Jr. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Oubre is an 11-year NBA veteran who spent the past three seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Adam Viniateri will be inducted into the Indianapolis Colts Ring Of Honor when the team hosts the Tennessee Titans on October 18. Vinatieri, the NFL’s all-time leading scorer and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026, played 14 seasons in Indianapolis, where he set franchise records for points and field goals made. He’ll be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio next month.
