The Reds got past the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 in downtown Cincinnati in the series finale heard yesterday on WRBI. With the win, the Reds avoid being swept in the three-game weekend series. Spencer Steer got the Reds on the scoreboard with a two-run homer in the 5th inning. It’s Steer’s 14th home run of the season. Sal Stewart added an RBI double in the 8th. Nick Lodolo gave up six hits, one earned run, and two walks while striking out four to get the win and run his record to 3-2. Emilio Pagan walked the tightrope in the 9th but got out of a jam and nailed down his seventh save. The Reds are off today before continuing the homestand with the first of three tomorrow night against the Philadelphia Phillies. Airtime tomorrow night is 6:40.

Reds right-handed pitcher Chase Burns and rookie infielder Sal Stewart have been named to the National League roster for the 96th All-Star Game via the Player Ballot. It’s both players’ first All-Star nod. This year’s Mid-Summer Classic will be played next Tuesday, July 14 in Philadelphia.

The Indiana Fever tipped off a four-game West Coast road trip by dumping the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces 84-68 last night. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 27 points while Aliyah Boston added 18 points and 10 rebounds. The West Coast road trip continues Wednesday night when the Fever visits the Los Angeles Sparks.

Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who sat out last night’s game with a back injury, is the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for June. Clark averaged 21.9 points per game and 8.2 assists per contest. This is the second time in Clark’s career that she has won Player of the Month honors.

Pato O’Ward took the checkered flag at INDYCAR’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio yesterday. It’s O’Ward’s 10th career win and second at Mid-Ohio.
