Last night’s Reds-Cleveland Guardians game in downtown Cincinnati was rained out. It will be made up today as part of a split doubleheader. The Reds have placed infielder/outfielder Spencer Steer on the 10-day Injured List with a right wrist sprain. Steer suffered the injury in the middle of an at-bat in Sunday’s game at St. Louis. To fill the roster spot, the team recalled infielder/outfielder Ivan Johnson from Triple-A Louisville.
The Indiana Fever returns from the WNBA All-Star break tonight when they visit the Seattle Storm for the start of a three-game road trip. Tipoff in the Emerald City is at 9:30.
The Cincinnati Bengals open training camp in downtown Cincinnati tomorrow with the first of six practices open to the public. There will also be a special Friday night practice inside Paycor Stadium on August 7.
The Indianapolis Colts say quarterback Daniel Jones is fully cleared to participate in training camp, which begins tomorrow at Grand Park in Westfield. Jones tore his Achilles near the end of last season. Meanwhile, wide receiver Alec Pierce is not ready for the start of camp. He is non the Active/PUP List after having ankle surgery earlier in the off-season. Head coach Shane Steichen expects him to be ready Week One.
