Batesville outlasted Class 1A #4 Hauser 72-64 in overtime in boys basketball heard Saturday night on WRBI. The Bulldogs improve to 9-7 while the Jets fall to 13-3.
Elsewhere, it was South Ripley over Lawrenceburg 49-39. Senior Cole Henry scored 14 points to become the all time leading scorer at South Ripley with 1,430 points. Classmate Blaine Ward led the Raiders with 21. South Ripley is now 17-0…East Central topped Rushville 53-36…Oldenburg Academy edged Waldron 49-46. The Twisters took the JV contest 49-45…Jac-Cen-Del knocked off Trinity Lutheran 52-36…it was North Decatur over Tri 57-44…and Switzerland County bested Milan 79-64.
East Central won the 10-team IHSAA wrestling sectional at Franklin County on Saturday. Milan finished second in the team standings, with the host Wildcats coming in third. Batesville placed fifth, and Greensburg came in eighth. Ten Trojan individual wrestlers advanced to this Saturday’s regional at Richmond. Nine from Milan are moving on, while six from Batesville head to the next round.
Three area swim teams took part in Saturday’s Schools with No Pools Invitational at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. The Oldenburg boys came in sixth, followed by South Ripley in 12th place and Batesville in 14th. On the girls side, Batesville finished eighth, OA was 12th and South Ripley came in 15th.
