Batesville knocked off Lawrenceburg 42-30 in girls basketball heard last night on WRBI. The Bulldogs have won six in a row and improve to 8-2…In other girls hoops action, Class 2A #6 Eastern Hancock defeated 1A #13 North Decatur 73-59. Madi Allen led the Chargers with 25 points while Kelsey Haley added 18…Class 1A #10 Oldenburg hammered Rising Sun 57-21…It was Franklin County over Switzerland County 62-41…South Ripley nipped Trinity Lutheran on the road 61-60. The Raiders hit crucial free throws down the stretch to pull it out. Lexi Franklin paced South Ripley with 22 points while teammate Kaiya Rinear added 20…And Jac-Cen-Del bested Waldron 55-38.

Batesville 7th grade boys basketball defeated Columbus Northside on the road 45-29 last night. The Bulldog 8th graders fell by a score of 52-32. 

St. Louis edged St. Nicholas 30-21 in boys’ 5th grade basketball Monday evening.

Batesville swimming headed north to compete against host Centerville and Seton Catholic last night. Both teams defeated Seton Catholic but fell to Centerville. Cora Miller in the 100 Fly and Matthew Lambert in the 100 Free were individual winners for the Bulldogs, and the men’s 200 medley relay team also took home a first place finish.

Purdue has hired UNLV’s Barry Odom as head football coach. Odom has spent the past two seasons as the Rebels’ head coach, and led them to back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time in UNLV football program history. He has a 44-32 record as a head coach. Odom replaces Ryan Walters, who was fired the day after the Boilermakers were stomped 66-0 by Indiana in the Old Oaken Bucket Game.
