South Decatur High School held the basketball awards ceremony Monday night to celebrate one of the most successful seasons in school history. Varsity award winners included seniors Drake Scaggs (Most Valuable Player; 1,000 point career scorer; All Mid-Hoosier Conference Team; Honorable Mention All-State), Grady Scudder (Mental Attitude), Karson Templeton (Most Improved) and Cayden Drake (Cougar Award; All Mid-Hoosier Conference Team; Honorable Mention All-State). The Cougars won the sixth boys basketball sectional championship in school history, finishing 18-7 with a state-best win improvement of plus-12 from the previous season.

British driver Katherine Legge will make her return to the Indianapolis 500 this year. It was announced on Monday that Legge will be in the #11 Chevrolet for HMD Motorsports in partnership with AJ Foyt Racing. This will be Legge’s fifth start in the race. In 2023, she became the fastest woman to ever qualify for the Indy 500.
