Batesville got past Franklin County 3-2 in varsity baseball last evening. The Bulldogs improve to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the EIAC with the win. The two teams meet again Thursday in Brookville…In the JV contest, it was Batesville over Franklin County 8-1.
In junior high baseball, North Decatur rolled over Jac-Cen-Del 17-2.
Tri crushed North Decatur 13-2 in varsity softball.
Batesville swept St. Louis in middle school golf at North Branch. It was the Bulldogs A team over the Cardinals A team 178-222. Batesville took the B team match 204-269.
Brad Moorhead has been named South Dearborn boys varsity basketball coach, pending school board approval. He will also teach at the school. Moorhead returns to South Dearborn from Martinsville, where he has served as JV coach. He was the valedictorian of the South Dearborn Class of 2012, and is the grandson of Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer the late Gus Moorhead, and the son of current South Ripley Schools Superintendent and WRBI sportscaster Rob Moorhead.
The Pacers go up against the Milwaukee Bucks in game two of their NBA Eastern Conference first round playoff series tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Indiana leads the series one game to none. Airtime on the Sports Voice is 6:30.
The Marlins doubled up the Reds 6-3 in Miami last night in a game heard on WRBI. The Reds trailed 6-0 going into the 8th inning before scoring all three of their runs. Marlins starter Max Meyer struck out a career high 14 batters and got the win. Nick Lodolo took the loss for Cincinnati. Game two of the series is tonight. Nick Martinez starts for the Reds against Edward Cabrera. First pitch is 6:40.
