Behind the valiant effort of sophomore pitcher Braxton Wilson, the South Ripley Raiders defeated the visiting Rising Sun Shiners 6-5 in ORVC action.
Wilson pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only one hit, one earned run, and striking out 5 to pick up his 3rd win of the season. Wilson is now 3-1 on the season.
Fellow sophomore Brady Ruble relieved Wilson with one out in the top of the seventh with runners on first and second and the go-ahead run at the plate. After a double, Ruble then struck-out a batter and got a ground ball to first to end the game in exciting fashion and earn his first career save.
For the Raider offense, freshman Mason McNew went 2 for 3, Ryan Gorrell and Landon Adams both had RBI singles, and Jayden McDaniel went 1-2 with a single, sacrifice bunt, scored two runs, and stole a base.
South Ripley evens their season record to 4-4 on the year while registering their first conference win of the season.
