South Ripley varsity baseball drops close game to ORVC foe Shawe Memorial

South Ripley varsity baseball’s comeback attempt would fall short in their 9-8 ORVC loss to Shawe Memorial.

The visiting Hilltoppers scored three quick runs in the top of the 1st off of starting SR pitcher Mason McNew, then added 2 in the 5th and four in the 6th.

The host Raiders rallied, however, getting two in the second, one in the 5th, three in the 6th, and two in the 7th, including runners on second and third when the game ended.

McNew suffered the loss on the mound, with relief help from Ryan Gorrell and Landon Adams.

Offensively, it was a huge night for freshman Austin Hodge, with two triples, two runs scored, and 4 RBI.

Brayden Dilk also had 2 hits, including a triple and 1 RBI.
