What started out as a good night for South Ripley varsity softball didn’t end that way, as they fell to Switzerland County 27-7 in 5 innings.
South Ripley got off to a great start leading 6-3 heading into the top of the 4th. That’s where the Pacers did their damage, scoring 17 runs to take a 20-6 lead.
The Raiders would score one run in the sixth to make it 20-7, but Switzerland County would have another big inning, putting up 7 in the 5th inning to take a 27-7 lead. South Ripley was not able to answer, putting an end to the game due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Brionna Linkel was a bright spot in the game for the Raiders, batting 2-2 with a home run and 4 RBI.
South Ripley will be at home on Thursday evening at 5:30 pm to take on Madison.
