Rising Sun, IN – South Ripley made the trip down to Rising Sun on Saturday to do battle with the Shiners.
Saturday’s game saw the return of key varsity starter Claire Samples who was out vs. North Decatur. She was worked back into the lineup and saw limited minutes off the bench.
In the first quarter, the Raiders quickly jumped out to a 15-0 lead behind Kaiya Rinear’s 9 points and Emily Parks’ 5. The Raiders defense was very solid and held the Lady Shiners scoreless in the first quarter.
That lead continued to build in the second quarter when the Raiders scored 14 to Rising Sun’s 7 to take a 29-7 lead into the half. Claire Samples got in on the action in her return, adding 6 points before the half. The Shiners continued to struggle on both ends of the floor with only a few players entering the scoring column.
In the third quarter, South Ripley outscored Rising Sun for the third quarter straight, 14-9. Katie Miller contributed 7 points, Kaiya Rinear with 4 points, and Samples added a bucket.
This game was complete dominance for the Raiders, who got back to .500 on the season behind a double-double from Kaiya Rinear who finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Katie Miller had a near double-double as well, with steals! She had 8 points and 7 steals on the day, along with 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
