AUSTIN, IN—On Saturday, the South Ripley Raiders baseball team participated in the Round Robin tournament at Austin, going 1-1 on the day.
In their first game of the day South Ripley defeated Trinity Lutheran 19-9.
Braxton Wilson picked up his first career varsity win as the Raider offense plated 10 runs in the first inning en route to the season-opening win.
Wilson pitched 3 innings and was followed on the hill by Mason McNew, who recorded six strikeouts in two innings of work.
Offensively, Brayden Dilk tripled and scored twice;
Landon Adams went 3 for 4, including a double and 4 RBI;
Trent Smith singled twice in three at-bats with 2 RBI;
Gabe Block was 1-3 with a run scored;
McNew – 2 for 4, 3 runs, and 1 RBI;
Ryan Gorrell – 2 for 2, 4 runs scored, 1 RBI;
Trevor Castner – 1 for 2, 2 runs, 1 RBI;
Wilson – 1 for 1, 3 runs, 1 RBI;
Brady Ruble – 1-4, 1 run, 1 RBI
South Ripley was held scoreless in their second and final game of the day, falling to Austin 16-0.
Austin flexed their offensive muscles by scoring 7 times in the first and another 7 in the third in the 16-0 shutout.
