Source of Wednesday afternoon blast sound undetermined

SOUTH CENTRAL IN — It’s not clear what was the source of a large explosive sound that shook South Central Indiana around 12:45 pm Wednesday afternoon.

Decatur County residents reported hearing the loud blast, along with people in several other counties.

Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post say they did not receive any reports about the sound.

The Camp Atterbury Public Affairs Office says there was no live fire training going on Wednesday and the mystery boom did not originate on the base near Edinburgh.
