(Batesville, IN) – The Southeastern Indiana YMCA August meeting of its Board of Directors opened with honoring two exceptional staff members, Becky Harmeyer and Taylor Clark.

Harmeyer and Clark were presented with the YMCA S.O.A.R. Award (Service and Outstanding Achievement Recognition).

The S.O.A.R. award honors staff leaders who illustrate outstanding efforts that contribute to the success of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA community through their service and achievements.

Becky Harmeyer, Assistant Childcare Director – Harmeyer stepped forward to lead the childcare team so that McKenzie Callahan, YMCA Learning Center Childcare Director, could take maternity leave. “With Becky’s leadership, I knew it would be a successful summer,” said Callahan. “She stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun. I am so proud of her and can’t thank her enough for her great leadership. Becky is integral to the success of our childcare team, and I can’t wait to come back soon with her at my side as we lean into another successful school year.”

Taylor Clark, Head Lifeguard and Swim Instructor – “Taylor has been a dedicated and reliable employee ever since she joined our aquatics team in March 2022,” shared Kristen Fletcher, Southeastern Indiana YCMA Aquatics Director. “She is vigilant and attentive to her duties as a guard while also showing compassion to our members. In December she was appointed as Head Lifeguard. She took on additional responsibilities such as scheduling, some supervisory skills by mentoring new staff and assisting with their lifeguard training. Taylor has also been able to lead in-service meetings with the lifeguard team. As a swim lesson instructor, she is in high demand due to her ability to work with children and help them acquire skills to be safe swimmers.”

“Becky and Taylor exemplify our Y mission by enhancing the quality of life for our members and our larger YMCA community. They are doing an amazing job.” added Tara Britton, Southeastern Indiana YMCA Chief Executive Officer.
