(Batesville, IN) – The Southeastern Indiana YMCA recognized four staff members with the YMCA Service and Outstanding Achievement Recognition (S.O.A.R.) Award during the June Board of Directors meeting.
The award honors employees who exemplify the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through outstanding service, leadership and dedication to the Y’s mission.
Renee Workman – YMCA Learning Center Lead Teacher
Workman was recognized for her unwavering dedication to children, families and professional excellence. While working full-time, raising a family and serving as Lead Teacher in the Butterfly Classroom, Renee recently earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ball State University.

“Renee’s accomplishment reflects her passion for serving our children and families,” said McKenzie Callahan, YMCA Learning Center Childcare Director. “Many families in our community have experienced her care firsthand. She continually goes above and beyond, and we are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved.”
In addition to her classroom leadership, Workman is taking on additional responsibilities by covering a fellow teacher’s maternity leave.
Laura Ault – Group Exercise Instructor
Ault was honored for nearly five years of inspiring members through her Healthy Heart classes and Zumba instruction. Known throughout the community for her enthusiasm and encouragement, Ault has helped countless members improve their health while creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and motivated.

“Laura shows tremendous dedication to every person who walks into her classes,” said Nikki Kaiser, Wellness Coordinator. “She truly cares about her participants, and that dedication is evident every day.”
SIYMCA CEO Tara Britton shared a personal reflection during the presentation, noting that Ault’s encouragement played a significant role in motivating her own father to continue attending classes, which demonstrates the lasting impact Ault has on members both physically and personally.
Roni Craft – Group Exercise Instructor
Craft received the S.O.A.R. Award for her leadership and commitment in helping launch the YMCA’s first LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Cancer Survivor Program.
“When I asked Roni to help lead the program, her answer was immediately,” Kaiser said. “She is always willing to jump in and help, and her passion for supporting our members shines through in everything she does.”
Craft’s compassion, encouragement and willingness to serve are credited with helping create a welcoming environment where cancer survivors can regain strength, confidence and meaningful connections with others facing similar journeys.
Nikki Kaiser – Wellness Coordinator
Kaiser was recognized for her vision, leadership and tireless work in bringing the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Cancer Survivor Program to the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.
Membership and Operations Director Tameeka Sizemore praised Kaiser’s commitment to developing the program from the ground up and ensuring its success during its inaugural session.
“This program has already changed lives,” Sizemore said. “Watching my own mother, a cancer survivor, go from staying home alone to building friendships, gaining confidence and ultimately becoming a YMCA member has been incredible. Nikki and Ronni created something truly special, and we’re grateful for everything they’ve invested in making this program a success.”
“Our staff members are the heart of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA,” Britton added. “Renee, Laura, Roni and Nikki each demonstrate what it means to serve others with compassion, dedication and excellence. Their work strengthens not only our YMCA, but our entire community.”
