Sheriff’s Office Issues Phone Scam Alert

(Decatur County, IN) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office has recently received reports of its phone number being spoofed.

Deputies say fraudulent calls are showing up on caller IDs stating it’s the sheriff’s office and showing the agency’s phone number.

Someone is telling residents they are being held in contempt of court for missing jury duty.

The sheriff’s office says staff will never ask for personal or sensitive information over the phone.

Deputies say if a conversation seems suspicious, protect yourself by not giving out personal information.
