BATESVILLE, IN — The sale of the Shell Building (pictured) on Merkel Road has been delayed.
IKIO LED Lighting of Indianapolis received a 10-year tax abatement from Batesville City Council last month, with the sale of the building set to close in late December.
But IKIO has had difficulties with their financing and told the city they need more time to get their financing in order.
Mayor Mike Bettice says the closing is now expected in March but adds the city will keep the building available in the meantime.
“At the same time, we’re hopeful that IKIO will get their financing in order and be able to come back so that we can close out that original deal,” Bettice said.
If the proposed sale is finalized, IKIO plans to hire 30 local employees over the next two years.
