Evening hours last night and the overnight brought heavy rainfall and severe weather to parts of the listening area.
A potential tornado may have touched down in Franklin County last night. Tornado warnings were issued in the county between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. last night but the National Weather Service in Wilmington has yet to confirm whether a tornado did in fact touch down. NWS did confirm that they are putting together a team to investigate the storm in Franklin County today but did not specify a timeframe for that investigation.
The intersection of Oxford Pike and Holland Road was temporarily closed during the storm due to downed power lines and was reopened around 1:00 this morning.
Duke Energy says that nearly 200 around the New Trenton area were still without power as of early this morning and around 60 in St. Leon were also experiencing power outages. Anticipated times for power restoration were expected to be by noon today.
The entire listening area remains under a Hazardous Weather Outlook this week but today is expected to see showers and storms exit this morning, giving way to a hot and humid Tuesday.
