Several departments battle Friday night barn fire near Metamora

METAMORA TOWNSHIP, IN — Firefighters from several departments were called to a barn fire that broke out just before 9 pm Friday on the 18,000 block of Haytown Hill Road in Metamora Township.

The barn was a 100-year-old structure and is considered a total loss.

Investigators did not say if any animals were in the barn at the time of the fire, or if anyone was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Metamora Volunteer Fire Department received assistance at the scene from the Oldenburg and Brookville fire departments.

Crews were on the scene for just over six hours.

In addition, Haytown Hill Road was closed to thru traffic for several hours while firefighters battled the flames.
