Semi driver flown from wreck near Sunman

Penntown, IN — A semi driver was flown to the hospital following a crash on the 82-hundred block of Hoff Road.

Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies say 40-year-old Robert Duvall was driving his tractor-trailer on I-74 west of the 156 mile-marker just after 8 pm on August 31 when a medical issue caused him to veer his rig off the interstate.

The semi came to rest in a ditch off Hoff Road.

Duvall, who is from Goose Creek, South Carolina, was taken by helicopter to the UC Medical Center for treatment.

Ripley County Deputy Justin Batchelor is the investigating officer and was assisted by the Sunman Rural Fire Department, Rescue 20, Ripley County EMS, Batesville Fire & Rescue, PHI Stat Flight 5, and Tommy’s Diesel Shop.
