GUILFORD, IN — State Road 1 in Guilford was shut down for about 12 hours Monday after a semi crashed near Cook Road.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office says around 12:30 pm, a semi pulling a large dump bed full of lime was southbound on 1 when the driver suffered a medical episode.

The semi went into the northbound lanes and through a guardrail before going down a large hillside and eventually coming to rest in a creek bed.

The unidentified driver was taken to St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

State Road 1 was closed between North Dearborn Road and Sawdon Ridge until late last night while crews removed the semi wreckage from the scene.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Miller-York, St. Leon, and Bright fire departments; Lawrenceburg EMS; Indiana State Police; the Indiana Department of Transportation and Todd’s Wrecker Service.
