Safe Haven Baby Box to be dedicated in Sunman this weekend

Sunman, IN — A device used to allow mothers in peril to anonymously and securely give up their newborns without fear of arrest or prosecution will be dedicated in the area this upcoming weekend.

State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) says Ripley County’s newest Safe Haven Baby Box will be dedicated at the Sunman Area Life Squad building at 2 pm this Sunday.

Frye authored legislation at the Statehouse that ultimately became Indiana’s Safe Haven Law.

“I will say, in the last two weeks, three babies in Indiana have been surrendered in Safe Haven Baby Boxes,” Frey said. “Those boxes are saving lives.”

Frye appeared on Monday’s edition of The Daily Pod on WRBI.
