Oldenburg, IN—The Indiana Department of Transportation will convert the intersection of S.R. 229 and Sycamore Street in Oldenburg from a two-way to an all-way stop next week.
Currently, only drivers traveling southbound on S.R. 229 and those approaching the intersection from the north on Sycamore Street are required to stop, but once the stop sign and stop bar are installed, drivers coming from all directions will stop at the intersection.
The new stop sign and stop bar will be placed on northbound S.R. 229 this week and will help motorists determine which direction northbound travelers intend to go at the intersection; straight onto Sycamore Street/Harvey Branch Road or right to continue on S.R. 229. This change will also provide a safer crossing for pedestrians walking to and from the bridge on the west side of the intersection.
