(St. Leon, IN) – The Sunman-Dearborn School Board has approved a policy on renaming facilities.
“We are required to have two readings for board policies, so at the last (September) meeting, the board discussed the possibility of naming facilities after individuals,” said Superintendent Dr. Andrew Jackson. “This is the result of someone coming to the board meeting to specifically ask for a facility to be named after individual.”
Speaking on WRBI’s The Daily Pod, Dr. Jackson says that initially happened in August, and the board decided to look at the issue from a bigger picture in terms of a policy.
He brought two options to the school board in September.
“Either naming them after individuals, or not. They chose not, and so the second was last week at the October 1 board meeting and they chose not to name them after individuals, so that was the official second reading to adopt that board policy,” Jackson said.
