Ruth Catherine (Windholtz) Schaefer passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born to Joseph and Rose (Wernery) Windholtz on September 10, 1932, in Reading, Ohio. She was a 1950 graduate of Our Lady of Angels High School in Reading. She worked for Carlisle Chemical and Gruen Watch Company and enjoyed traveling with friends.
Ruth married John W. Schaefer and they enjoyed 47 years together before his passing. She loved to paint and sew, often making her own clothes and clothes for her children. She also made several quilts, which her children will treasure. She was a member of All Saints Parish – St. Paul Campus, New Alsace.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her children, Joe Schaefer, Jim (Sue) Schaefer, Jeanette (Darren) Wilder, Jerry Schaefer, Julie Schaefer and Jen Schaefer, grandchildren Steve Johnson, Alex (Aloggia) Schaefer, Andrew Schaefer, Megan Ferguson, Sarah Ferguson, Emily Ferguson, and great-grand child, Maverick Allen, also many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may gather to remember Ruth on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 9:30 until time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. at All Saints Parish – St. Paul Campus. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
