Rusty Ison, Sr., 62 of Versailles passed away at 8:30 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2023 at his home. He was born in Columbus on February 28, 1961 the son of Floyd and Janice Banks Ison. He was married to Sharon Turner on April 5, 2008 and she survives. Other survivors include his father Floyd (Faye) Ison of Moores Hill; two sons Rusty (Kady) Ison, Jr. of Milan and Jared (Samantha) Ison of Aurora; two daughters CaTrina (Brett) Trenkamp of Dillsboro and Robyn (Marvin) Gilbert of Moores Hill; step-daughter Terra (Shane) Babbitt of Alabama; step-son Dalton Braley of Versailles; his extended family Kristy (Austin) King of Madison; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers Phil (Charlene) Ison of Columbus and Michael (Dana) Ison of Crittenden, Kentucky. Mr. Ison was a 1979 graduate of South Dearborn High School. He was a 35-year employee of Ohio Rod in Versailles working in shipping, as a machinist, and also a plant foreman. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Rusty Buck in Versailles. His hobbies and pastimes included hunting, fishing, horseback riding, bow shoots, and playing euchre. Rusty was a member of the Shelby Christian Church and the NMLRA at Friendship. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 11a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Tim Heim of the Shelby Christian Church officiating. Graveside services will be at the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Columbus on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 9a.m. Memorials may be given to the Laughery Valley Fish & Game Club in care of the funeral home.
