Rose Marie Nieman, 86

Rose Marie “Rosie” Nieman, 86, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Aspen Place Health Center in Greensburg.  Born, February 3, 1933 in Decatur County, Indiana, she was the daughter of John Henry and Agnes (Meyer) Nieman.  Rosie graduated from Greensburg High School in 1951.  She worked for 35 years as office manager at the REMC, retiring in 1998.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the St. Lawrence Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former volunteer at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital and the Meals on Wheels.  Rosie was an avid bowler and she loved to travel.  She traveled to all but one state in the Union. She also was an extensive traveler in Europe. Her trips included Our Lady of Lourdes in France and the Vatican City in Italy.  She loved exploring her family homeland in Germany.  She is survived by two brothers, Carl (Glenda) Nieman, Greensburg, John (Peg) Nieman, Greensburg; one sister, Betty Schneider, Greensburg; one sister-in-law, Esther Nieman, Greensburg, 19 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Maurice Nieman, Arthur “Art” Nieman; brother-in-law, Lawrence Schneider; Sister-in-law, Pauline Nieman; great niece, Leah Laudick.  Family and friends will gather at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church to pray the rosary.  Visitation will follow until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating.  Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.  Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund or to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.  Online condolences can be made to the family at www.popfuneralhome.com
