Robert Mark McCarty

Robert Mark McCarty, 55, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home in Aurora, Indiana.

He was born on July 31, 1963 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Robert and Patricia (Hagans) McCarty. Mark grew up in Aurora, Indiana. He graduated from South Dearborn High School in 1981. After high school he attended Northern Kentucky University where he received a BS degree in Business Administration. He then began work as a salesperson for Ande Chevrolet. When the casinos opened in Indiana, he moved his work to Belterra Casino. His last place of employment was at Rising Star Casino.

Mark established many long lasting friendships during his lifetime. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. Many times you would see him wearing sports wear in support of both teams. He also enjoyed watching sporting events on TV, and he especially liked watching the Indiana Pacers. Mark was an accomplished archer. He participated in state and national archery contests. In 1976 he won the first of four consecutive Indiana Field Archery Association Outdoor Championships. In 1977 and 1978 he was the National Field Archery Association Champion. Also during the years of 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1981, he won the IFAA Indoor Championship. In his love of the outdoors, Mark grew many beautiful flowers, mostly roses. This past year his hibiscus had an extra long bountiful blooming season.

Mark was a devoted son and brother. He enjoyed being with his family and good friends. The love of his life was a black and white longhaired cat he named “Kittee”. Mark found Kittee at his mother’s home as a kitten and she has been his best friend ever since.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia (Hagans) McCarty; his paternal grandparents, Roger and Sadie McCarty; his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Mae Hagans. He is survived by his sisters Connie (Bill) Lakes of Aurora and Vicki McCarty of Greendale; nieces, Aimee Kellner of Lawrenceburg and Krista Wall of Greendale; great nephews Brayden Wall of Loveland, Ohio and Avery Wall of Greensburg, Indiana; and many loving friends and other relatives.

Friends will be received Friday, December 21, 2018, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 16393 St. Rd. #148, Saturday December 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tom Fehrman officiating. Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
