Robert “Bob” Cornett, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020. He was 83 years old. Born on January 27, 1937 in Ottenheim, Kentucky he was the son of John W. and Anna M. Cornett. At the age of 14 he went to live with Herbert and Clessie Goetz.
Bob started work as a moulder at Campbell Hausfeld Foundry in Harrison, OH on December 31, 1956. He retired in 1999 after working there 42 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crossroads. Bob served as a volunteer fireman for several years with the Drewersburg Fire Department in southeastern Franklin County and spent eight years there as an EMT. Bob enjoyed flying when he was younger and was an active licensed private pilot for ten years.
On July 15, 1989 he married Carolyn Harrelson at Crossroads Church. Bob loved to travel around the country with Carolyn and together they visited almost every state. He liked to browse the flea markets and attend auctions. Most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Carolyn, his stepdaughter and husband, Donna & Thomas Fong (Greensburg), stepson and wife, Larry & Amy Harrelson (Napoleon), daughter and her husband, Lori & Tony McCoy (Harrison), son, Kevin Cornett (Harrison), three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, half-brother, Regis Russell (Texas) and sister Gladys Cheek (Indianapolis).
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 5-8pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crossroads on Wednesday, June 10th at 11:00am. Rev. Creighton P. Leptak officiating with burial to follow in the St. Paul Church Cemetery.
Due to the COVID-19 precautions, all attending will be asked to follow proper social distancing protocol. If you are not feeling well, or if you have compromised immune system, you are encouraged to stay home.
