Rita Stenger , 87, of Lawrenceville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 66 years, Earl. She is also survived by her loving children: Mike (Liz) Stenger of Sunman, Earl Jr. (Marty) Stenger of Brookville, John (Linda) Stenger of Harrison, and Jeff (Rhonda) Stenger of Lawrenceville; Susan (Tim) Dietz of Batesville, Christy (Steve) Eckstein of Greensburg, Andrea (Chuck) Hartman of Morris, and Sandy (Jay) Whitehead of Lawrenceville. Her memory will remain alive and well among her 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rita also leaves behind her sister, Frances Bischoff, of St. Leon.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents: Amos and Marie Beneker; her sisters: Mildred Stenger and Lillian Knue; her brothers: Jim Beneker, Wilfred Beneker, and Paul Beneker. Rita was a member of All Saints Parish in St. Leon. She was an avid bowler, and also loved fishing, gardening, baking, flowers, dancing, music, spending time looking through her treasure of pictures, coin collecting, and of course, time with her family.
Visitation is June 15, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Parish Life Center in St. Leon, starting with rosary at 4:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:00 am on June 16, 2016 at the All Saints Parish – St. John the Baptist campus in Dover. Memorials can be made in Rita’s honor to the Sunman Area Life Squad, Margaret Mary Hospice, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
