Ripley K-9 officer assists ISP in drug bust

Versailles, In. — Ripley County Sheriff’s Department K-9 officer Czar and his handler recently helped Indiana State Police with a drug arrest in Versailles.

Around 2 a.m. Monday Czar and his handler joined troopers during a traffic stop after the officer noticed criminal indicators. Czar alerted to the presence of drugs after a free-air sniff of the vehicle. Police found methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia during a search.

The driver, Mark Crawley, 35, of Patriot, and passenger, Kelsey Roark, 22, of Osgood, have been charged with maintaining a common nuisance, driving while suspended, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
