Ripley County organization, law enforcement hosting National Night Out at local drive-in

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — The Ripley County Drug Awareness Coalition will host National Night Out this evening (Wednesday) at the Bel-Air Drive-In on US 421 in Versailles.

The coalition is partnering with the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, the Batesville Police Department, and Indiana State Police to put on the event.

“National Night Out is designed to strengthen communities and build stronger relationships with law enforcement,” said event organizer Mary Ellen Rippe. “And that’s why all of these officers are joining us.”

The movie being shown is “The Goonies.” Rippe says there are also some incentives to get there early.

“The first 240 guests will receive a free hot dog and a drink at the concessions. We also have some goody bags courtesy of Cierra’s Club and the Romweber Marketplace that are stashed with some Halloween treats, as well as information from our other agencies that are members of the Drug Coalition,” she added.

Gates open tonight at 6:45, with showtime at dusk.
