Batesville, In. — Sixty-nine Ripley County seniors applied for the 2018 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. The Ripley County Community Foundation has narrowed the field of candidates to five, representing four area high schools.
“The students we interviewed all displayed poise and potential,” noted Chairman Jim Black. “It is very encouraging for the future to meet these outstanding young people.”
The finalists include: Olivia Allen, daughter of Debra and Steve Allen, is a senior at East Central High School; Batesville High School senior Quinten Hylton-Gowdy, is the son of Janet Hon; Jordan Healy, senior at Milan High School, is the daughter of Gayle and Richard Healy; Madeline Pierson of Batesville High School is the daughter of Molly and Benjamin Pierson; and South Ripley senior Toria Tucker is the daughter of Denise and Trace Tucker.
The final selection will be announced before Christmas break after the Independent Colleges of Indiana scholarship committee notifies the Ripley County Community Foundation of the recipient.
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship recipient will receive full-tuition for four years to an Indiana College plus a $900 per year book stipend while the other four finalists will each receive a $2,000 scholarship from the Ripley County Community Foundation.
