Ripley County Council responds to Sheriff’s salary remarks

Ripley County, IN — Ripley County Council is responding to Sheriff Rob Bradley’s claims that county leaders have neglected the Sheriff’s Office staffing crisis, which he says has been brought on by a disparity in deputies’ salaries compared to other area law enforcement agencies.

Council members say in a written statement that they have been working on raises for all county employees since last August

“Ripley County Council understands how important salaries are. When the Sheriff came to Council in January and asked for a 41-percent raise and 9-1-1 asked for a 21-percent raise also, we were taken by surprise,” Council wrote in the statement.

Council members say they will continue working on the situation, and ask the public to attend their next meeting on March 20 at 6 pm in the Ripley County Courthouse Annex (pictured).
