(Ripley County, IN) – Planning continues for people to view the total solar eclipse on April 8, and just about all of Southeastern Indiana will be in the path of totality.

The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce plans to host a viewing event that day at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood.

Terri Trowbridge with the Ripley County Tourism Bureau says the occasion will also be marked leading up to the big day.

“The Batesville Area Arts Council, the City, Main Street and the Chamber are going to have a full day of activities the day before,” Trowbridge said.

The event at The Plex will include music and entertainment plus food trucks.

“We’re expecting visitors to come in for the whole weekend so we want to have things for people to do who are coming in for the eclipse,” she said. “And then, of course, the day of there will mainly people viewing. so we’re going to set up areas for that all across the county.”

Trowbridge says times and other information on eclipse activities in Ripley County, including where to get glasses to safely view the rare event, are being hammered out and that we should expect more information to be released as we approach Eclipse Day.
