RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — A Holton woman was airlifted from a single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on US 50 near the Ripley/Jennings County line.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says a GMC Acadia driven by 38-year-old Penny Cloney was heading east on US 50 when the vehicle left the road and crashed into Otter Creek.

Ripley County EMS extracted Cloney from the wreckage with the help of officers on the scene.

Firefighters used rope rescue equipment to carry her out of the ravine (pictured).

Cloney was taken by medical helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Indiana State Police troopers performed the crash reconstruction.

In addition to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Ripley County EMS, and ISP, other agencies on the scene were the Osgood Police Department, Indiana Conservation Officers, the Holton/Otter Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, Versailles Fire Rescue, and St. Vincent StatFlight.
