Reds win 9th straight in Votto’s triumphant return

Joey Votto made his season debut after a 10 month absence on Monday night, playing a key role in Cincinnati’s 5-4 win against the Colorado Rockies at Great American Ball Park.

Votto lined out to center in his first at-bat in the 2nd. However, the veteran would respond with a home run in the fifth to make it 2-1 in favor of Cincinnati.

Colorado would put up 3 runs in the top of the 6th to make it 4-3 Rockies. Votto would come up clutch for the Reds in the 6th with a two run single in the 6th to give Cincinnati a 5-4 lead.

Reds Reliever Alexis Diaz closed out things in the 9th, striking out 2 to earn his 19th save of the season.

Cincinnati has won 9 straight, making it their longest streak since winning 10 in a row from July 19-29, 2012.

And with Milwaukee’s 9-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Reds now lead the NL Central by a half a game with 38-35 record.
