Reds win 5th straight thanks to 3-run seventh inning

The Cincinnati Reds continued their winning ways last night, defeating the Red Sox 5-4 at Fenway Park.

Boston got out to an early 2-0 lead before the Reds scored their first run of the evening in the top of the sixth off a Luke Maile double.

However, the Red Sox would make it a 3-1 game in the bottom 0f the 5th, thanks to an Enmanuel Valdez solo home run.
Cincinnati would add a run in the 6th to make it just a one-run deficit heading into the seventh.

The game would ultimately be decided in the aforementioned inning as Will Benson would score to tie the game. Then, it was Spencer Steer who would provide the game-deciding 2-run blast to give the Reds a 5-3 lead.

Jarren Duran would knock in a run to cut Boston’s deficit down to one, but that would be the final run they would score, leading to the 5-4 Cincinnati win.

Ian Gibaut threw 1 inning of shutout baseball to earn the win in relief. Buck Farmer was credited with the save, striking out 1 and allowing zero runs in one inning on the mound.

Spencer Steer went 1-3 with a home run and 2 RBI.

The win gives the Reds their first series win against Boston since the 1975 World Series.
