Reds split first two games with Nationals

Thursday night at GABP, the Reds beat the Nationals 8-1.

Cincy rookie starter Graham Ashcraft had another stellar outing.  The 24-year-old righthander allowed just one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings with five strikeouts.

Offensively, Joey Votto, Matt Reynolds and Kyle Farmer all homered.

On Friday, the Reds fell to the Nationals by a final of 8-5.

Washington took the lead for good during a four-run third inning of Cincy starter Mike Minor who gave up three home runs and five earned runs over four innings.

Tommy Pham and Votto both played long ball for Cincinnati.
