The Cincinnati Reds snapped a 2-game losing streak Tuesday, rallying from two runs down to beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 in the series opener on Tuesday night.
The Reds got an early lead on a solo home run by Matt McClain in the first inning.
It wouldn’t last long as the Angels took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning with solo home runs by Brandon Drury and Mike Moustakas.
In the 4th, Los Angeles made it a two run game with a Logan O’Hoppe solo home run.
The Reds would rally in the fifth inning, with Will Benson and TJ Friedl scoring on a fielding error by Angels 1st baseman Nolan Schanuel, tying the game at 3. The next batter, Spencer Steer, would give Cincinnati a 4-3 lead on an RBI double.
The Reds would hold onto the lead the rest of the way to snap their 2 game losing streak and improve their record to 65-61 on the season.
Graham Ashcraft (7-8) got the win on the mound striking out 10 batters while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work. Alexis Diaz earned his 34 save of the season, allowing 0 hits and striking out 1 in 1 inning on the mound.
