Reds score just one run in series opening loss to San Francisco

The Cincinnati Reds (68-65) went just 1-5 with runners in scoring position in their 4-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants (68-63) on Monday night.

San Francisco scored all 4 of their runs before Cincinnati was able to post their lone run of the game in the 8th on a throwing error that occurred on an Elly De La Cruz double.

The Giants scored their first run on a Wilmer Flores double in the bottom of the 1st inning. The 2nd and 3rd runs came on a Patrick Bailey double and a Paul DeJong sacrifice fly in the 3rd. The 4th and final run for San Francisco scored on a Wade Meckler double in the sixth.

Andrew Abbott (8-4) took the loss on the mound, striking out 6 while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 3 and 1/3 innings of work.
