The Cincinnati Reds caught fire late, but it wasn’t enough, as the Atlanta Braves handed the Reds 5-4 in ten innings on Monday night.
The Reds rallied back from two runs down in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game 3-3, thanks to an RBI triple from Stuart Fairchild and an RBI single from Spencer Steer.
In the top of the tenth inning, Jonathan India gave the Reds their only lead of the game, 4-3.
Unfortunately, the Braves had an answer in the bottom of the inning, as Sean Murphy hit a walk-off run homer to give Atlanta the 5-4 win, dropping Cincinnati’s record to 4-5 on the season.
The Reds return to action Tuesday night for game 2 of their road series with the Braves. WRBI will have the coverage, starting at 6:50 pm with the first pitch at 7:20 pm.
