Reds comeback attempt falls short in 4-3 loss to Pirates

The Cincinnati Reds couldn’t complete the comeback on Thursday, falling to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3.

All of the Pirates’ runs came in the first inning, thanks to a three run home run by Connor Joe and a solo home run Jack Suwinksi.

In the seventh, the Reds would make 4-1 with an RBI single by Jason Vosler. Jonathan India would knock in a run on a single and score on sacrifice fly by Spencer Steer to make it 4-3 after 8 innings.

The Reds would go 3-up-3-down at the plate in the final inning, leading to their third straight loss.

Luke Weaver took the loss on the mound, striking out 8 while giving up 4 earned runs in 6 innings of work.
