Rebecca Ann Lucas, 77 of Westport

Rebecca Ann Lucas, 77, of Westport, passed away at 1:42 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born on December 16, 1946 in New Albany, the daughter of Roland C. and Anna Rebecca (Satterfield) Gessler. She was born and raised in New Albany and had lived in the Westport area since 1961.She went to school in Scipio and graduated from North Vernon High School. She worked for Columbus Regional Hospital in the food service department for 7 years. She was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church. Becky enjoyed baking, canning, gardening and sewing, especially making quilts. She married Russell L. Lucas on May 14, 1966 in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1999. She is survived by her son, Russell Allen (Tasha) Lucas of Westport; her stepson, Bobby Lee (Loretta) Lucas of Tennessee; stepdaughters, Betty Lucas of Columbus, Beverly (Chuck) Sutton and Sally Evans both of Greensburg; her half-sisters, Annette and Lora both of Scottsburg, Sharon and Debbie both of North Vernon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson, Nathan Lucas; stepdaughter, Judy Vail and a sister, Sheila Moore. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Robert Lay officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
