Ripley County, IN — The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office is thanking the Rising Sun Regional Foundation and Crum Trucking for providing grant funds that were used to offset the purchase cost of a large patrol vehicle.

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is used as part of the agency’s small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) program, and stores and transports the devices.

The Sheriff’s Office has two sUAS that are used in search and surveillance operations.

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation awarded the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office $14,000, and Crum Trucking contributed $1,000 toward the project.

In early 2022, the Sheriff’s Office purchased the Tahoe and equipped it with all of the necessary gear needed for regular patrols as well as the sUAS.
